Following the success of the inaugural Eurocultured Belfast festival during trans this summer, the event has now been renamed Base and will be taking place twice a year. This year’s Winter Base is the first indoor street art festival of its kind.
Base will be taking street art out of the cold and into the Ulster Hall, transforming the main space to accommodate a mini urban village of live painting, market stalls and music.
Featuring street artists from across Ireland, Britain and Europe, Base will be showcasing some of the finest underground artists creating work around European cities today, including Microbo and Bo 130 (Milan), Mr Kern (Bordeaux), Elph (Edinburgh), Ruse and Guy McKinley (Manchester) and many more.
Some of Belfast’s best and most original bands – Pocket Billiards, Cutaways, Nakatomi Towers, The Swell Time and Barry’s Electronic Workshop – will be playing alongside international artists all day Saturday and Sunday. A special line-up for Saturday night features hotly tipped local music producer Space Dimension Controller, Choice Music prize winners Super Extra Bonus Party, and London electronic act, We Have Band.
Local artists will be selling arts and crafts on both Saturday and Sunday and there will be a range of food and drinks available.
All Base events are FREE.
