Los Campesinos! | 14 Jul 08 | 7:30 | Waterfront Studio | £8.50
Celebrate the start of trans with an evening inspired by the spirit of revolution, an all ages gig brought to you in partnership with Alternative Ulster on Bastille Day. In a stunning coup, indie-rock’s brashest young things Los Campesinos! have been secured as headliners, with Kowalski, Two Door Cinema Club and Cat Malojian completing a formidable foursome
Formed while they were students at Cardiff University, Los Campesinos! began as a student band at Cardiff University. The septet started as a trio with guitarist Neil, bassist Ellen and drummer Ollie, but gradually swelled their ranks through glockenspiels, melody horns, cow bells, handclaps, Casiotone keyboards. Before long their demo was causing a fuss all over the web, and they became one of the hottest indie tickets around branded as the leaders of a twee-core revolution.
The music itself is an inventive, more charming British indie sound recognisable in a post-Libertines world with the saving grace of genuine intellect and humour. Oh, and top tunes help too.
In keeping with the spirit of youthful innovation and rebellion local geniuses Kowalski, Two Door Cinema club and Cat Malojian provide support with pitchforks and burning torches metaphorically poised at the gates of the pallace So join us comrades for the rock and roll revolution, mid-July will never be quite the same again... Oh and there'll be prizes for the best revolutionary costume, break out the berets!
Please Note: This gig is open to all ages – Alcohol will be available for over 18s
